The way you are going to win at whatever it is you are trying to achieve isn’t totally surprising. Success comes from small marginal changes that result in a bigger picture. Whether you want to learn a new language, get in shape, or change your eating habits. Nothing is impossible. All your dreams and aspirations in life. All your hopes and everything you have ever wanted. It is yours. With just a few tweaks in your lifestyle and a few sacrifices, you can do it and I believe in you. R, E, A, P. These four letters are the beginning of the new you, and I will show you why.

R for results

Wikipedia defines results as the outcome that is caused by a set of actions. Results are the 10 kilograms of weight you have lost after 3 months of working out. Results is the 20,000 extra dollars you now have because you finally started your own business. Results are the conversations you are involved in because you learned a new language. Results are books that you’ve published because you started writing. Results come in many forms but most importantly it is one of the few things in life where we feel the most win.

E for Elimination

In basic mathematics, there is a method of solving problems called the method of elimination. This method is also referred to as the addition method funny enough. When you are trying to change an aspect of your life or learn something new, you will need to make some sacrifices in order to have gained elsewhere. The elimination method is preferred over other mathematical practices because it is less likely to have mistakes. Similarly, with any goal that you have, you will need to be ready to eliminate things or distractions in your life that prevent you from achieving your goals.

A for Alignment

The geometric design of roads is a branch of engineering concerned with the positioning of physical elements of the roadway according to set standards and constraints. This can be broken into three main areas, profile, cross-section, and alignment. The safety and comfort of the road users are dependant on all three of these areas. If a horizontal curve has a high speed and a small radius, an increased superelevation or bank is needed in order to assure safety. Like these engineers who determine the alignment for safe passage for the road users. We determine the alignment needed in order to successfully progress our goals.

P for Progress

Progress is the fuel you need to keep going, to keep motivated at working towards your goals one day at a time.

You will need to make smaller, more achievable sized goals so you can reach them. Start from the smallest increment possible and build onwards from there. For example, if you are wanting to lose weight, you need to exercise. To exercise, you will need to make time. Once you make time, you will then need to go to the gym and exercise. To progress, you will need to stick to this routine of going to the gym. So start small. Try two days every week for a month and I guarantee you will make it through. You will have made progress and be more motivated to continue this lifestyle you have created. Many people fail because they are not satisfied with the outcomes of what they have been trying to work towards. They fail because they give up before seeing any progress.

You will REAP what you sow. To reap a good harvest, you will need to sow the right habits. You will need to make sacrifices, create alignment, and continue to progress when you get better and better. Rest assured, this is your starting point but it all goes uphill from here.
